Our prepress department can accept your media in a number of ways. Files can be received on 3.5" floppy, Syquest 5.25" & 3.5" disks, Iomega Jaz & Zip Disks, or via the Internet in both Mac and PC formats. Once received, our experienced personnel convert your files into laser proofs for your review or direct-to-plate.
File Uploads Via FTP
We want to make sure that your electronic files get to Graphics West - FAST! We have an FTP site on our dedicated T1 Internet connection.
Compression
When transferring your files, please compress them prior to transfer.
1. Get your files ready to transfer:
NOTE: File and folder names cannot have spaces in them.
• Make a folder with your company name and the date. (Example:GW12_30_99)
• Place your file(s) inside the folder.
• Compress the entire folder, we recommend the following File Compression programs:
StuffIt Deluxe for Macintosh
Aladdin DropStuff for Windows

Compressed, smaller files transmit and open faster, saving you time and money when you're online. Also, Mac files that have a resource fork (such as fonts) will survive the trip over the Internet if compressed. (Please DO NOT make the archive self-extracting - that is for downloading software, in which the program is a compressed executable file that downloads to your computer, and when you execute the file, it expands itself, and automatically installs).
Netscape Navigator
If you are using Netscape Navigator, the easiest way to upload files to Graphics West is through your browser. When your files are ready to upload, simply click on the link below. Once at the FTP site (it will state: Current directory is //home/graphics/to_graphicswest) click on the File Menu of your browser, then select upload file... found under the file menu. When the dialogue box appears, select the file to upload, and then click Open. You should receive a dialog box telling you when the upload is complete.

FTP Program:
Transfer your files:
Start your FTP program and type in the following information:
• Host Name: ftp.graphicswest.com
• Username (or User ID): graphics
• Password: west
• Directory: /home/graphics/to_graphicswest/
• Click OK (or Finish)
A window opens to your directory:
• Drag & Drop the files/folders you want transferred.
• When the Status Panel shows that your transfer is complete, you can quit the program.
